Born and raised in a small town outside of Boston by parents who have run a small business that's been in my family for generations, I've always felt compelled to start something of my own. The path of business ownership to me always felt firstly: inevitable because of my personal values and goals, and secondly: possible because I've always understood that the best things in life require hard work, fearless determination and roots firmly planted in serving others and seeking meaning in everything we do.
For as long as I can remember, I've felt pulled towards a more creative path that would enable me to use the personal creativity, innate sense of curiosity and need for exploration that I've always felt closely connected with. So after five and a half years in digital marketing, I decided to re-chart my course, have my mom finally teach me how to use my sewing machine 15 years later, and listen to the longstanding desire to start a business. That business would be built upon the joy I find in simply creating for the purpose of bringing joy to others.
After all, it's the little things that really have the biggest impact. And yes, I believe that experiences are more important than things (just consult my wedding vows!) but since we all need some 'things' to live, we may as well make them worthwhile.
